THE OTHER WAY AROUND

After fifteen years in a relationship, film director Ale and actor Alex decide to go their separate ways. They act on an old joke made by Ale’s father, that separations – and not unions – are cause for celebration. They announce their break-up party to friends and family, perhaps as a means to convince themselves that they are sure of what they are doing – for are they truly?

Jonás Trueba’s ”refreshingly grown-up” romantic comedy The Other Way Around was the true hit of this year’s Director’s Fortnight at Cannes, winning not only the critics’ hearts but also the Europa Cinemas Label Award for Best European Film. The jury expressed their deepest admiration for the film as ”a pleasing beacon of positivity and one which we feel will appeal to audiences around Europe”.
