Animale

The river delta Camargue in southern France is infamous for its traditional bull race. Only one woman, the 22-year-old Nejma, takes her place in the arena. She trains hard to fulfill her dream of winning the annual competition, but news of a rogue and violent bull on the loose terrifies the community. Young men are suddenly being killes, and the bull is nowhere to be seen.

Animale explores the relationship both between human and animal, and between man and their beast within. A visually striking tale in the footsteps of 2021's Palme d'Or winner Titane, which shares production and creative credits with Animale. With a production budget of €5 million, Animale is a female-fronted revenge thriller with sprinkles of the western.
